“Every step of the process was a pleasure”
When it comes to translation, there’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all. The best translations are crafted with a specific target audience in mind.
I’m an experienced, qualified linguist, and I use my specialist knowledge of the worlds of tourism, fashion and beauty, sustainability and education to create premium translations for businesses who care.
I'm proud to use inclusive language in my translations, so you can rest assured your message will be welcoming and considerate. Don't worry, that doesn't mean your text will be clumsy, long or alienating. There are ways to avoid that, and I'm here to prove it.
Transcreation is the sweet spot between translation and copywriting. It’s a highly creative form of translation, used chiefly in advertising and marketing. It’s all about adapting the source text's message to fit the target audience's culture-specific needs and expectations.
Your captivating slogans, copy and marketing materials may well include idiomatic expressions, references to your local culture, or even song lyrics. And a direct translation of that? It wouldn’t mean a thing.
I’ll put my most creative hat on and think outside the box, sometimes moving further away from the original to reflect its essence in English or Polish, so your new audience feels like you really speak their language.
Many countries have a system of accredited or sworn translators, but that's not the case in the UK. Official documents need to be self-certified by qualified translators belonging to a professional body.
As a qualified member of the ITI, I can provide you with certified translations of official documents in both English and Polish. Every translation will include a sticker and a self-certification statement.
You can either scan your documents and email them to me, send them to me by post* or, if you live in Glasgow, we can arrange their collection. My quote for certified translation will include the cost of getting your translated documents to you.
Contact me to find out more about how my English or Polish certified translation services work.
*Please note, I can’t take responsibility for documents being lost or damaged in transit. To ensure safe receipt, always send your documents by recorded delivery.
There's nothing worse than publishing a text only to spot an error, is there? But unfortunately, proofreading your own work can often be a challenge, so you need another pair of expert eyes.
Leave your English or Polish text in capable hands. Apart from carefully checking the grammar, style and spelling, I’ll also make sure your text is written inclusively, so you can publish it with total confidence.
A lot of my work is done under NDAs, and my clients’ privacy is always a top priority, but here are some examples.
The answer to your question might be right here.
For me, inclusive language is a way of communicating without offending anyone, using harmful stereotypes or making vulnerable groups invisible.
No text is immune to these issues. This might be as significant as using outdated terminology considered offensive towards marginalised groups (this can happen unintentionally), or as seemingly insignificant as talking about ‘manmade’ fabric.
I tend to notice such phrasing and suggest more inclusive solutions. Don’t worry, I won’t just change your text completely. It’s your project, and we’re working on it together.
You can read more about it on my inclusion and diversity page
No matter how small, every project involves time-consuming admin tasks. My minimum fee also reflects the time and money I’ve invested in my business over the years, and the expertise required to do a great job.
Just as you’re an expert in your field, I’ve spent years training to become a translator (in three different countries), I devote countless hours to my professional development, and I always produce the highest possible quality.
Unfortunately, it’s impossible to answer this question without seeing your files first. I need to know how much terminology research the project will involve, what the subject matter is, what format you need it to be delivered in, and more.
Believe it or not, translating 200 words can be more time-consuming than working on a much longer document, especially if your text calls for creative translation or transcreation.
I ask to see your files before providing a quote, not only to make sure it reflects the time and expertise required, but also to guarantee it’s fair to you.
Absolutely. I got both my degrees in Scotland and have been living here since 2009 (with a break of 16 months in total, living in Barcelona and Luxembourg). Almost two decades of living here have made me fully bilingual and bicultural.
But don’t just take my word for it, my Polish-to-English translation skills have been assessed by the ITI.
Although I’ve lived in both Spanish and French-speaking countries, my proficiency in English is much higher, as I’ve been living here since way back in 2009, and I studied for both my degrees in Scotland.
I wouldn’t be able to guarantee the highest standard when translating into French or Spanish, but I’m more than happy to work out of these languages into English or Polish. Alternatively, I can recommend a trusted colleague to take care of your project if you get in touch
